Essentially what you have here are two bad remakes of Ring and Ju-On playing out in complete parallel to one another until a final, logic-defying meet
Even in the originals, small continuities such as Sadako's dress & length of hair were retained. Not so in this. It sounds petty but things like that make a difference to me personally. The Sadako actress was not able to replicate Sadako's original walk. As for Kayako's bit, my biggest peeve was the age & size of Toshio.
You would think with eight films in the Japanese series already, including crossing over with The Grudge ghost Kayako, that The Ring series may be reaching a level of overexposure. With the original director of the first two films returning for Sadako, one might think that there is some hope for the latest addition to the series.
